Doodle 4 Google – Hope on the Horizon

Every year Google holds the “Doodle 4 Google” banner contest for students grades K -12. I love checking out the submissions. They are always neat, and the sentiment attached to each is delightful as well.

This year, one really stood out to me. It isn’t the most visually stunning of the group (There are some gorgeous banners), but the message is incredible:

Hope on the Horizon

My doodle gives a hopeful look toward the future. In the future, technology is utilized to make education of the masses safe, easy, and fun! Everyone in this future is entitled to limitless banks of information, leading to a stronger and smarter humanity. It’s accurately named “Hope on the Horizon.”

The imagery in this banner made me stop and reflect on how far technology has come in the last thirty years. That is not a particularly significant quantity of time in human history. It is insignificant in geological history, and cosmically, it is an irrelevant span of time.

It makes me wonder, what’s next?

Cast your votes for the Doodle 4 Google finalists until May 18th.
