Pink Floyd Rock Band? It Could Happen

It seems that the members of Pink Floyd are considering a music game. After seeing the loving care that the Beatles received in Beatles Rock Band (review coming really soon), I can’t think of a band that is better suited for the same treatment.

The stages would be freaking awesome. The music is incredible (and far more difficult than the Beatles), and that solo on Comfortably Numb… ooo the solo on Comfortably Numb. I’m in love with this idea already. I hope it happens.

So many great albums!

  1. Love the picture. Every time I stumble across it on the webernets, I love it even more :)

Aside from that, I dunno about the idea of another rockband/guitar hero game that is solely focused on one band. I enjoyed the Beatles rock band but I’ll have to say that I don’t think I’ll ever buy it. I’d rather pick up Rockband 2 instead. The versatility of RB2 over Beatles RB is obvious. Beatles RB is limited to Beatles music. That’s it. Great for any huge fan of the Beatles but for me… not so much.

  2. I understand where you are coming from Gil. The thing about these band specific games is that you really have to like the band. I’m a big fan of Aerosmith & Metallica, so I loved those games. I am a fan of George Harrison, but I never really considered myself a fan of the Beatles, but through the game, I came to appreciate them more than I had in the past.

What I like so much about the way Beatles Rock Band was executed was that everything was the Beatles. Videos, load screens, venues, etc. Doing that with Pink Floyd opens up a ton of incredibly cool design elements that just aren’t possible with most bands (or generic music games). Pink Floyd was always visual and avant-garde… Imagine what game designers could do with them.
