Admiral Ackbar is a beloved Star Wars character famous for his squid-like appearance, and delivery of the line, “It’s a trap!”
The exclamation, “Ackbar!” means “it’s a trap” in many geeky social circles.
So, it cracks me up that a few students at the University of Mississippi have accidentally started a movement to change the schools old outdated mascot, to the squid-man, commanding officer of a rebel space navy.
The story from NPR is pretty funny, and worth a read. Spoiler alert – George Lucas is cool with making Ackbar the school mascot.
