Do you want to understand the basic problems with Facebook?
This video is a good place to start:
I have three big problems with FaceBook:
- They are never up-front about their actions or motives
- Deactivating your account is so difficult you need to find an instruction guide to do it
- There is almost no point in deactivating your account because Facebook will retain all of the information you have ever told it
Facebook is like Hotel California, “You can checkout anytime you like, but you can never leave.”
I like Facebook as an application, but I despise that there is no way to get them to delete my data. That’s why I don’t update anything but the blog (which is already public), and maybe a profile pic from time-to-time.
I truly hope someone creates a viable Facebook competitor that is willing to at least be transparent, and offer you the opportunity to actually delete your data from their servers.
‘Facebook is like Hotel California, “You can checkout anytime you like, but you can never leave.”’
Great comparison LOL
You’ll be surprised at my latest post about FB.
Great piece David. I deactivated my account in February and I don’t miss it one bit. So yea they have my information still, but I have my Facebook freedom which is better than most can say! It’s amazing how many people have conformed to this monster. Personally I hate the stalking device. Keep in touch with who you want to keep in touch with!
Love this post. Another reason why I still haven’t drank the FB Kool Aid. PS: I tweeted a link here.
Thanks for the Tweets Mark. I appreciate the support.
