Return of the Geek

And I’m back. My two week blogging break has been an interesting experience.

Taking That Break

Initially taking a break was very difficult.

Writing this blog has become a significant part of my life. I hadn’t quite realized the amount of time and effort I spend on a daily basis reading, thinking, and writing for this site. The first few days without blogging were actually stressful, which only highlighted how much I needed to take a break.

If you’ve been blogging pretty much non-stop for over a year, I highly recommend taking a week off; it gives you clarity.

New Mindset

Taking a rest has given me some time to tackle personal projects; as well as relax; catch up on sleep; read without an agenda; play some video games; get better acquainted with Twitter (@dbspira); and practice playing guitar.

The change of pace has also given me some perspective on how I blog.

Before I started this site, I made a long list of blogging topics to ensure I would have enough content. I tried so hard to actually use the list, however it never produced the best results. During my time off I’ve realized that my best writing comes from what I am currently thinking about. Trying to pull a topic off of a list just doesn’t produce passionate writing.

Moving forward my writing will be driven by whatever I am pondering. It changes regularly, so things shouldn’t get stale.

There are more changes that I have in mind, but I will let them emerge on their own.

I am reinvigorated, and looking forward to the next 700 posts on TGW. As always, thank you for reading.

I’ve been thinking about this lately because it’s my experience too. Welcome back!
