Every few years Microsoft issues a Windows Service Pack. Service Packs are huge bundles of updates that resolves tons of bugs. Today Microsoft issued Windows 7 Service Pack 1, and if you use Windows 7, you want to install it immediately.
My recommendation is to backup your data, then restart your computer to make sure nothing funky is running before you run Windows Updates, and install the SP1.
I can’t understate the importance of running updates, especially the biggies like SP1.
