The Pirates of the Caribbean went stale after the first film, but new music by Rodrigo Y Gabriela is welcome in any form.
Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, The Dark Knight, Inception & Gladiator) scored the latest Pirates installment. Zimmer made the wise decision to bring RyG into the studio to record some of the tracks for the film, and I couldn’t be happier. Seriously, few things excite me more than Rodrigo Y Gabriela recordings.
Check out RyG perform The Pirate That Should Not Be backed by an orchestra:
I’m not buying a ticket for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, but I already purchased the soundtrack to get my hands on five new Rodrigo Y Gabriela recordings.

Nice sounding music. I’ve loved Hans Zimmer and his compositions for quite some time. Your man, Rodrigo, adds a bit of spice. I like it.
If you enjoyed Hans Zimmer, take a look at Thomas Newman. He’s done quite a few soundtracks himself.
Thomas Newman is great as well.
As much as I enjoyed RyG’s contributions to the Pirates soundtrack, I prefer their original material.
