The trailer for the new HBO series The Newsroom looks damn good. But I’m biased because I’m a huge Aaron Sorkin (West Wing, A Few Good Men, The Social Network) fan. Have a look and judge for yourself.
No one writes better “Go fuck yourself” lines than Sorkin. No one.

I am trying to think if I have EVER been this excited about a TV show (okay, Buffy aside – I am only human). It look absolutely amazing! The-Social-Network-amazing, even. If this doesn’t make it over to the UK, I will be so very, very upset.
If this looks good to you, and you enjoyed the Social Network, then I strongly recommend the West Wing, Sports Night, and Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip.
Sorkin writes very fast and witty dialoge. If you’re a Buffy/ Whedon fan like I am, I think you will enjoy the rest of Sorkin’s stuff.
I’m incredibly ashamed to admit that the reason I haven’t watched any West Wing is because I heard about the show quite late on, by which time it already had a cult following. I felt that I’d be jumping on a bandwagon by starting it post-awards (despite the fact that even thinking that is seriously uncool). I was pretty young when it first came out, and knowing me, I was still into Pokemon.
I’m going to have to follow your advice and check it out this weekend. Thanks very much for the advice, oh wise fellow-Whedon-fan :)
Just watch it! It’s a great show.
